The Journey Begins

“We all have a story to tell. So, tell your story.  Your story is unique, your story is powerful, your story has purpose.”

Greetings Beloveds,

During these 40 Days of Prayer, I believe that God will speak to us about our ministry callings.  As we walk in our ministry calling, it is imperative that we keep in the forefront of your mind what ministry is truly about.  Ministry is not about us – our gifting – or our abilities.  Ministry is all about GOD!  In fact, our gifts have been given by God for us to use for His glory and for His kingdom purposes.

Personally, I experience great joy and satisfaction when I help others engage with God.  This is the fulfilling side of ministry, which I truly enjoy.  However, there is another side to this experience.  A dark side called pride, in which we all must be careful.  Pride has been the obstacle that has brought down many gifted men and women.

We must do the work of God, not for the appreciation of others, but so that others may know God and be drawn to Him.  Serving God’s people is not about us – it is not because of us – It is about pointing the way to Messiah.

God has placed within us all unique gifts that will edify the Body.  The gifts that we walk in are for the equipping, nurturing, and edification of the Body of Messiah; so that we will be ready for the coming of the Lord.

It is good to remember that as we walk in our calling, not to try to be like anyone else.  There are people who God has ordained that you must reach.  Someone else might not be able to reach the people you are able to reach.  Yeshua (Jesus) had twelve disciples.  They all had different personalities and God used each of their personalities for His glory.   We must never covet how God uses anyone else.  There is enough work for all of us in God’s kingdom.

We all have a story to tell. So, tell your story.  Your story is unique, your story is powerful, your story has purpose.

Ministry Is Service – Not Glamour

John 21:15-17

Peter do you love me…. Peter replied yes… Jesus said… Feed My Sheep.”

Feeding God’s sheep is the crux of every ministry.  Peter, the chief apostle, was called into servitude – to feed God’s sheep – and in like manner we too are servants – feeding God’s sheep.    Servitude is not always glamorous because in the same chapter Jesus went on the tell Peter about his fate.

When we see great men and women of God whom God has trusted with a vast ministry, we do not see all the private humiliation of washing feet, hours spent in prayer, in studying the scriptures, enduring afflictions, and misunderstandings – yet through it all we still say YES to Yeshua.   In ministry we must follow our Lord’s example of servitude and not become discouraged when ministry service becomes difficult.

Discouragement is often the tool that the enemy will use to sift young ministers and cause us to walk away from our callings.  Been there – done that.  Ministry requires GREAT endurance.  However, when we yield ourselves to God’s service, He will reward us throughout eternity.

Let’s Pray

Father, You knew us before we were knit together in our mother’s womb.  You have a plan and purpose for our lives.  That plan involves bringing glory and honor to Your name.  That plan involves being a light and God’s witness to the world.  That plan involves bringing strength to our generation.

Father, please help us to effectively use the gifts that you have placed within us for Your kingdom purposes so that we can glorify Your name and  become a lighthouse pointing the way for others to find You.  In Yeshua’s name – Amen.
