Day 19 – Healing The Wounded Heart
Sometimes the best we can do is keep on living until we feel ALIVE again. In God we can start over as often as we need to.”
One of the saddest stories in the Bible is recorded in (2 Samuel 13). As I read this story, my heart breaks for our sister Tamar. Even if we have not experienced pain like of abuse, the reality is that we’ve all experienced our share of pain in various ways. We have all tasted the bitterness of insults, wounds, and rejection. We live in a world where it is common for people to hurt us.
What makes Tamar’s pain so significant is that she was violated by her brother Amnon. The two were both raised in the household of their father the King. As brothers and sisters in Messiah, we too are to love and protect one another. However, too often we become the source of each other’s pain.
The Bible tells us, that after being violated, Tamar put ashes on her head, tore her robe, and went away weeping bitterly. Tamar, this vibrant, beautiful, princess, would remain desolate in her brother Absalom’s house. Tamar expressed in (2 Samuel 13:13) “Where do I take my shame?” What do we do when we have been wounded in the House of the Lord? What do we do when we have been wounded in our safe place? Where do we take our pain?
Recovering from such a wound is no easy task. My prescription has always been to run to Yeshua (Jesus) and scream out to God in tears until He takes away the sting!
Do I have any Tamar’s out there? Do not go away weeping or remain desolate. Cry out to God. God’s word promises to bring comfort to the broken-heart (Psalms 34:18). You were meant to THRIVE. You were meant to FLOURISH. You were meant to LIVE! Stay in the presence of God until PEACE comes. Stay in the presence of God until He mends your broken heart, dries your tears, caresses your soul, and restores your joy. Stay in God’s presence until HEALING comes.
If you are hurting today, pray with me…..
Father, please remove every form of bitterness from my heart. I don’t want anything to hinder me from flourishing in Your presence – in Your house. I will not remain desolate in my Father’s House. Father, fill me with Your joy, Your love, and Your peace until I can SING again, LAUGH again, and LOVE again. Father, we praise You and thank You! In Yeshua’s name Amen!
“Father, I am wounded. I bring these tears and this pain to You. I release {person’s name} from the offense they have caused me. Father, please take away the sting of the wound and erase the pain from the recesses my soul.
