Day 19:  Daddy Loves His Girls

_______________________________ The prodigal daughter

If you could do anything for the Kingdom of God and you knew that you could not fail, what great thing would you do for the Kingdom?”

Today, let us look at the lives of an extraordinary group of women. The daughters of Zelophehad found in (Numbers 27:1-11).

The daughters of Zelophehad were women who had no rights in a patriarchal society.  Their father died and left no son as an heir.  Their father’s kinsmen would have inherited land that rightfully belonged to them.  Therefore, the daughters of Zelophehad took their request for inheritance to Moses.

It is epic that these women had the chutzpah to approach Moses with their revolutionary request.  What’s even more beautiful is that the favor of G-d was with them.  The daughters of Zelophehad approached Moses saying, “Our Father was not of those who banded together against ADONAI in the wilderness.  Our father died in his own sins; and he left no sons.  Let not our father’s inheritance be lost because he had no son.  Give us an equal inheritance amongst our brethren.(Numbers 27:1-5)

In all of Israel, no woman had ever made such an appeal.  However, we are most courageous when we have nothing to lose.

James 4:2b says, “You do not have because you do not ask.”  Our Father our King, loves to prove Himself strong in our lives.  All we have to do is ask.  The great theologian Charles Briggs wrote, “If your ambition is to avoid the troubles of life, the recipe is simple: shed your ambitions in every direction, cut the wings of every soaring purpose, and seek a little life with the fewest contacts and relations . . . “

Tiny souls can dodge through life; bigger souls are blocked on every side.  As soon as men and women begin to enlarge themselves their resistances are multiplied.  To be significant is to be misunderstood.”

I am encouraged that the daughters of Zelophehad had the chutzpah to approach Moses with their revolutionary request.  What is even more impressive is that Father God took notice of the daughters of Zelophehad and His FAVOR was with them.

Numbers 27:6-7:

And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, the daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.” It’s not easy being a revolutionary woman.  Yet, the daughters of Zelophehad: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah would have had it no other way.  These women should inspire us to dream bigger.  They not only achieved tremendous personal success, they shaped history, and forever changed the law of inheritance concerning women in Israel. God heard the request of the daughters of Zelophehad.  God turned His attention towards them.  God granted their requests.  Our Father loves to prove Himself strong in the lives of His daughters.  All we have to do is ask. Daddy loves His girls!

Favor is permission to ask – permission to dream big “God” dreams.  Favor is permission to make requests.  Favor becomes our anchor when warfare contends with our promise, and discouragement comes to unseat us from our place of radical favor.”
