40 Days of Prayer: Intercessor’s Boot Camp – Part 1

Understanding Your Role as an Intercessor
Greetings Beloveds,
To be battle ready is the mentality of the kingdom of God. He who desires victory… He who desires the crown… He who desires the palace must be ready for war.
A Prophetic Word: “You are being prepared for your crown. Greater crowns attract greater persecution. But you are anointed to wear your crown. You are anointed with enablement, ability, endurance, and power to overcome.”
The purpose of this bootcamp is to stir up the gift of intercession within you. Every believer prays, but not all prayer arises to the level of intercession. The difference is found deep within the heart of the intercessor. Most gifts are demonstrated by ability, but intercession is demonstrated by relationship.
Yeshua Our Intercessor
Hebrews 7:25:
“Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”
Intercession is a priestly ministry. Yeshua, our High Priest, wants us to do the work of intercession with Him. The work of the Holy Spirit in intercession aides us to pray the will of God.
“For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Yeshua the Messiah.”
As intercessors, we can approach the throne of God in confidence. Yeshua is at the right hand of the Father, interceding on our behalf, presenting His Blood against Satan’s accusations and attacks. Yeshua is fighting on our behalf. He is our intercessor. His word concerning us will never return void.
God Releases His Power Through Intercession
God releases His power through the intimacy of intercession. An intercessor is a priestly role. Yeshua stands in the gap between man and God, intercessors likewise stand in the gap between man and God, advocating for something that he or she believes that God wants. An intercessor spends time in the presence of the Holy Spirit to ascertain the will of God. Intercessors contend in prayer for the purposes of God to be established on the earth.
As intercessors our stance against the enemy is based on a warfare theodicy. Theodicy is the vindication of God’s divine goodness and providence in the existence of evil.
Yeshua has given us the authority to overcome all the power of the enemy. Yeshua, our High Priest, sits far above every throne, dominion, principality, and power – and we are seated together with Him. Every assignment of the enemy can be demolished through the power of intercession: All sorcery, all oppression, every attack, every setback, every plot, and every wicked scheme – all of it. (Luke 10:18-20)
Knowing Which Mantle To Wear: Prophetic Voice – Priests – Kings
Revelation 1:6:
“…and [He] has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever Amen.”
Intercessors not only have a duality in our role as kings (authority) and priests (intimacy).
Intercessors often walk in a “tri-fold anointing.” As intercessors, it is essential that we know which mantle to wear in every situation.
Prophetic Voice – God will often impart prophetic utterances and revelations to intercessors so that we can make prophetic decrees and declare God’s word through intercession.
As an intercessor it is important for us to know when it is time to cry aloud, spare not, and release God’s word.
Isaiah 58:1:
“Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sin.”
Priests – During the temple period only the priests were allowed behind the veil. The priestly ministry is an intimate ministry. Priests intercede between God and man. It is interesting to note that the Levites (the priests) did not engage in battle.
Most intercessors are run towards the battle – we are fighters. However, as an intercessor we must know when it is time to lay down our bows & arrows and engage in intimacy before the Lord Most High. As an intercessor it is important for us to know when it is time to leave the battlefield and enter into the Holy place.
Deuteronomy 20:2-4
“So it shall be, when you are on the verge of battle, that the priest shall approach and speak to the people. And he shall say to them, ‘Hear, O Israel: Today you are on the verge of battle with your enemies. Do not let your heart faint, do not be afraid, and do not tremble or be terrified because of them; for the Lord your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.”
King – Every kingdom – including God’s kingdom, operates through laws, ordinances, and governmental authority. As children of the King, God has given His children authority to walk effectively in His kingdom. (Luke 10:19).
As an intercessor it is important for us to know when it is time to walk in authority and decree the will of God to be established on the earth.
Revelation 5:10:
“And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”
Job 22:28:
“You will also declare a thing, And it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways.”
As intercessors we must know when it is time to walk in authority and release kingdom mandates according to the will of God. The great Charles Spurgeon wrote, “Prayer is an art by which the Holy Ghost can teach us.”
- With authority, we direct our prayers like arrows with deliberate aim in decreeing God’s will and His word to be established on earth.
- With authority, we direct our prayers with precision in order to execute and establish the purposes of God on the earth.
- With authority, we ambush, demolish, destroy, immobilize, annihilate, prevent, and cancel the assignments of the kingdom of darkness against our lives, our families, and this nation.
