I enjoy reading the stories of the wandering of the children of Israel through the wilderness.   Their struggles are common to all of us. The children of Israel endured many trials along the way to the Promised Land.   Numbers 4:21, explains that the children of Israel’s journey through the wilderness was filled with many painful circumstances and traumatic events that left the soul of the people discouraged.

Numbers 4:21:

“And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way.”

In fact, Israel became so embittered and disillusioned in their journey that they began to complain against God and against Moses.  The people even complained about the supernatural provision {the manna} that God sent to their front door.

Beloveds, has your difficult life journey marred your soul with discouragement and weariness?  If so, you are not alone.  We are all tempted to become discouraged, weary, and impatient when we are faced with times of famine, drought, set-backs, illnesses, and attacks from the enemy.

Today, let us take an introspective look at our spiritual house {our souls} so that we can be free from contamination, i.e. discouragement, oppression, depression, disillusionment, impatience, rejection, bitterness, and weariness. This contamination keeps us from being the healthy individuals that God desires us to be.

Yeshua said in Mark 3:27, if anyone wants to enter a strongman’s house he must first bind the strongman.  Yeshua, has come to bind the strongman so that we can experience freedom in our souls!  Just as Moses, lifted up the bronze serpent in Numbers 21:9, so that Israel would find relief, likewise Yeshua was lifted up so that all who look to Him can find relief.

God’s Redeeming Love

In Luke 8:26-38, there was a man who lived among the tombs.  The Bible is silent about this man’s history.  However, we can surmise that something occurred in this man’s life journey that left him wounded, oppressed, possessed, and dwelling among the tombs.

Like this man, some of us have experienced horrible situations that left us wounded.  We are dwelling among the “tombs” of past hurts, pains, broken hearts, disillusionment, disappointments, tragedies, and failures.

However, we can choose to use what happened in our live for the glory of the Lord.  We do not have to become bitter.  It’s a choice.  We can choose to rejoice in all things.  We have a choice to bear fruit in all things.    We can choose to wait until our change comes (Job 14:14b).

The Bible declares that Yeshua not only set the man at the tombs free, He restored this man’s IDENTITY and his PURPOSE.  The Bible declares that Yeshua commissioned this man to preach the gospel.  Beloveds, when you have been set-free, you can’t resist proclaiming God’s goodness.

Luke 8:38-39:

“….Yeshua sent him away, saying,“Return to your home, and describe all that God has done for you. So he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole town all that Yeshua had done for him.”
